Nestled in the historic Conn Valley area, just east of St. Helena, Seavey is one of the hidden gems of Napa Valley. Visitors to Seavey are greeted by stunning vineyards and historic stone buildings, including the winery, a renovated 1881 dairy barn. One of famed critic Robert Parker’s favorite wineries, Seavey is best known for classic, bold, rich and refined Cabernet Sauvignon that consistently garners scores in the mid to high 90-point range from major wine publications.
Seavey wines are limited production, made with a meticulous, hand-crafted approach. In their own words:
“Production from the estate’s 40 planted acres is approximately 3,000 cases annually. This small-scale production allows us to maintain consistently high standards in both the vineyard and the winery. We’ve never bought a grape and we farm our land with our in-house crew. Our steep, rocky hillsides produce small, thick-skinned berries with outstanding tannins which must be handled very gently. As a result, our winemaking approach is gentle and patient. Stewarded by Jim Duane, our winemaker, and also Philippe Melka, our consulting winemaker, our goal is to create masterful, soulful wines that exude a sense of place and age gracefully.”
Our neighbors told us about Seavey shortly before one of our trips to California, and once we visited, we fell in love instantly with the place, the wines and the people. One unique aspect of Seavey’s philosophy is that they hold up to 25% of each vintage for aging, and they make those library wines (which you’ll taste if you come to a reserve tasting) available on a limited basis.
Come join us to taste some of the very best wine Napa Valley has to offer!
